About Me
Hello! I'm Sinéad. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and graduated from the University of
San Francisco with my bachelors degree in Design and a minor in Business.
I love all aspects of design. I have recently started expanding my web skills, but print is my
first love. Printmaking has recently become a favorite process of mine (linocuts especially) and
I am slowly learning more about letterpress.
When not designing, I can be found on playing gaelic football, baking
Irish breads and goodies, or planning my next trip!
Artist Statement
I believe that design can change the world, and I want to create design that will. It has become
the responsibility of our generation to create sustainable design. I believe that sustainable design
takes the environment as well as humanity into consideration. I want to create design that will not harm
the environment while having a positive effect on social issues, or humanitarian injustices and vice-versa.
As a designer I want to be a part of the questioning process.
In my work, I explore the uses of typography and am curious about the combination of hand-made and
digitally-made processes. I believe both hold necessary roles in our world today. Although digital printing
has become more popular, the art of metal type and letterpresses should not be regarded as irrelevant in
our world. Those methods are a physical history of design and it’s fun and educational being able to work
with my hands to create design and understand the tools and words we still use today. Although computers
can help us create amazing designs, products, etc. there is still a need and a want to create tactile design
(and observe when finished).
I want to use older methods of design in order to find new ways of creating sustainable design.
